I love the idea of a vibrant mods marketplace, built within the steam interface, that allows you to help fund the projects you are most passionate about. I think the major point people are missing here is that not every mod would switch to being paid.some would stay free and readily available. If a mod became popular enough, a developer could dedicate all their time to working on it, instead of it being a largely volunteer effort. Why shouldn't a modder be able to charge money for their work? I believe this would actually lead to the development of much BETTER and more expansive mods overtime.
I see this sentiment passed around a lot.that paid mods are inherently bad for consumers and a bad practice for games.
